When mascara alone doesn’t give you that gorgeous, eye-catching look, false strip lashes come to the rescue. You don’t even need a trip to the beauty salon – you can make your eyes stand out in the comfort of your own bathroom.
We know firsthand that putting on false strip lashes is no easy feat, especially if you’re doing it for the first time. That’s why today we’ll talk about how to choose the right lashes for you, plus 5 rules to remember so your application doesn’t end in total disaster…
Glue-on strip lashes
By far the most popular type of strip lashes are the ones you stick to your eyelid with glue. You’ll find them in every drugstore. Good-quality lashes are lightweight, and you’ll quickly forget you’re even wearing them. So when you buy lashes like these, check that the lash band isn’t too stiff.
Second, take a close look at the lashes and make sure they don’t look fake and… plastic. Cheap models may tempt you with their price, but they can look tacky, have an artificial shine and stand out noticeably from your natural lashes.
Who are they for? For an untrained hand, these lashes can be a challenge, so they’re a good choice for those who already have some lash experience or… a lot of patience 🙂
Magnetic strip lashes
Magnetic lashes are false strip lashes that attach to magnetic eyeliner. They go directly onto your eyelid, and you can wear them comfortably all day long.
Just like with glue-on lashes, it’s really important to invest in high-quality lashes with a soft lash band and natural-looking fibers. The cheap models sold by many retailers can feel heavy and simply fail to deliver the look you’re hoping for.

Who are they for? Magnetic lashes are PERFECT for beginners. The biggest challenge is drawing a thin line. “Sticking” the lashes on is super easy – thanks to the magnets on the lash band, they snap right into the right place.
Before you buy, check what the lashes are made of! Many lashes are made from mink hair, which may be a red flag for you. Lashes like these look pretty (and are usually much pricier), but they may not be for everyone. The alternative is synthetic lashes. They can also look beautiful and natural if they’re made from high-quality fibers (just like our collection!). Magnetic lashes are more expensive than their traditional counterparts. It’s worth checking out magnetic lash sets to get them at lower prices.
Now that you know the two types of strip lashes, read our 5 most important tips that will let you wear your favorite lashes safely all day long and turn heads wherever you go 🙂
1. Choose the right lash shape for you
You’ll find lots of different lash shapes on the market. The most popular are lashes styled as a “cat eye”, round lashes and “wispy” lashes with alternating short and long fibers.
Round, low-density lashes give the most natural effect. However, if you have almond-shaped eyes, cat-eye lashes will be more flattering. It’s worth trying out different models and picking the favorite that makes you feel your best.
2. Trim the lash band to fit your eye before applying
Different lashes come on lash bands of different lengths. They can measure 25–35 mm and won’t always perfectly match the shape and size of your eye.
Before you apply glue or eyeliner, hold the lash up to your eye and see how much of the band extends past it. With magnetic lashes, you’ll need to shorten them by 1–2 magnets, which won’t affect how well they hold. Using cosmetic scissors (nail scissors work really well), trim the band on both lashes. That way, the band won’t lift at the outer corner of your eye.
3. Don’t attach lashes too close to the corner of your eye
To make sure your lashes won’t come unstuck and irritate you all day, don’t attach them too close to the inner corner of your eye. If you can feel the band irritating your eye when you blink, remove the lashes and apply them again. You may need to trim the lash (see tip 2).
Lashes placed like this aren’t just irritating – they also make the inner corner lift, which, as you can imagine, doesn’t look great.
4. If you’re just starting out, consider half lashes
This is our all-time favorite trick: it not only looks beautiful but also means your lashes come unstuck much less often, or not at all – which, as you may already know, can happen when you don’t have much lash experience.
The whole trick is to cut the lashes in half and use only one half at the outer corner of your eye. If you can’t bear to cut your brand-new lashes, you don’t have to do it right after you buy them – just wait until you feel like trying something new 🙂
Half lashes look truly beautiful and natural, and they’re the perfect everyday option when you don’t need a super dramatic look.
5. Take proper care of your lashes
If you treat your strip lashes as disposables, it can turn into a pretty pricey habit. The better you care for your lashes, the longer you’ll be able to enjoy them. You can wear high-quality lashes up to 30 times, and they’ll still look amazing.
If you use glue-on lashes, you’ll need to carefully remove the glue from the lash band after each wear to keep them in perfect condition. But if you get glue on the lash fibers, it can be hard to get rid of.
Magnetic lashes are easier to care for. Sometimes, when you take them off, magnetic eyeliner may stick to the magnets on the band. If that happens, simply remove it with a cotton swab.
This kind of care not only extends the life of your lashes but also keeps them safe for you and your eyes.
